Malavika Mohanan is an Indian actress who works predominantly in the Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi film industries. She was born on August 4, 1993, in Payyanur, Kannur district, Kerala, India.
Malavika made her acting debut with the Malayalam film “Pattam Pole” in 2013. She gained recognition for her performances in the films “Nirnayakam” (2015) and “The Great Father” (2017).
In 2018, Malavika made her Tamil debut with the film “Petta” opposite superstar Rajinikanth. She also starred in the Hindi film “Beyond the Clouds” directed by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi.
Malavika has won several awards for her performances, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam for her role in “Uyare” (2019).
Malavika Mohanan was born to cinematographer K. U. Mohanan and Beena Mohanan. She grew up in Mumbai and completed her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai. After completing her schooling, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media from Wilson College, Mumbai.
Malavika began her career as a model and has worked for various renowned brands such as GRT Jewellers, Kalyan Jewellers, and Manyavar. She made her acting debut with the Malayalam film “Pattam Pole” in 2013. However, it was her performance in the film “Nirnayakam” (2015) that brought her into the limelight.
In 2017, Malavika appeared in the film “The Great Father” opposite Malayalam superstar Mammootty, which became a massive commercial success. She also made her Kannada film debut with the film “Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi” in the same year.
Malavika gained international recognition with her performance in the Hindi film “Beyond the Clouds” (2018), directed by Majid Majidi. The film premiered at the 2017 BFI London Film Festival and received critical acclaim. She also made her Tamil debut with the film “Petta” in 2019, which was a commercial success.
In 2019, Malavika starred in the Malayalam film “Uyare,” which was based on an acid attack survivor’s real-life story. Her performance in the film received critical acclaim and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam.
